A spoiler warning located at the top of an article page means that the article contains information which has only recently been revealed in the corresponding source material. As some readers may not yet be privy to the most recent comic events, the information contained in the article may "spoil" their enjoyment of the actual storyline before having the opportunity to read it for themselves. Spoiler warnings are generally used only if the event in question is relatively recent, and presents a significant impact on the character’s lives. Mundane or common events do not require a spoiler warning. Spoiler warnings should also be used on older comic issue pages if the pages contain information relating to a recent reveal. For example, if a 2006 issue of Superman reveals that Lex Luthor was secretly working behind the scenes of a critical event that took place in an issue from 1987, then the earlier issue should contain a spoiler tag at the top of the page.

This is the template used to identify article pages that may contain spoiler warnings.
