Aerial Combat refers to an individual's ability to conduct offensive and defensive manuevers while using a vehicle capable of flight. Not everyone who is skilled in the ways of piloting necessarily possess a proficiency in aerial combat however. Lex Luthor for example, can pilot the LexJet, but he is not trained for aerial combat. For the purposes of database categorization, Aerial Combat pertains only to those characters skilled in the use of a specific vehicle, be it a jet fighter, helicopter or space cruiser. It does not pertain to those who participate in aerial combat using flight rings, power rings, battlesuits, exo-armor, jet packs, or their own natural ability to fly (unless of course, the individual has expertise in both arenas such as Hal Jordan).
